Prepare for your report

Before your Vedic reading: check your birth details

A short checklist for birth date, local time and the correct birthplace.

A chart-based reading starts with a record of a moment and a place. Before paying for a question, spend a few minutes checking the details you will submit. A carefully written question cannot fix an uncertain birth record.

Prepare the three inputs

  1. Date: double-check the day, month and year. Be especially careful when a record uses a different date format from the form.
  2. Time: copy the recorded local time, including AM or PM. Prefer a birth certificate or hospital record when one is available. Keep a note of where the time came from.
  3. Place: select the actual birth town or neighborhood from the suggested locations, then check the state and country. Your current residence is not your birthplace.

When your birth time is approximate

Separate “recorded at 7:42 AM” from “around eight in the morning.” If all you have is an estimate, preserve that uncertainty. Do not turn a rounded family memory into a minute-specific time just to fill the form.

House and Ascendant calculations depend on time and location. A changed time can therefore change the chart being interpreted. The Swiss Ephemeris documentation describes these inputs and separate sidereal calculation settings.1

No birth time at all? A form that requires an exact time cannot establish it for you. Seek a reliable record first. Treat any reading based on an assumed time as exploratory, especially if it presents a narrow date window.

Why two calculators may disagree

Before comparing answers, compare inputs and settings. Ask which time zone, daylight-saving conversion, sidereal reference (ayanamsa), house system and lunar-node setting were used. A difference in configuration is a reason to investigate before judging the interpretation.1

Keep a small reading record

Save the details you submitted and a copy of the report. If you later correct your birth time, label the new report so you can see which version you are using. This makes follow-up reflection more useful than comparing anonymous screenshots.
